Inspiration From the Great Outdoors

Dean Burgess from Excitepreneur.net wanted to do a guest post about finding inspiration as an entrepreneur by getting outside. We think many problems could be solved if people took the time to step outside and let their minds wander along with their feet. So, here is Dean’s post on the subject. We hope it inspires you to try something different.

The world is filled with so much inspiration. Whether you’re a budding entrepreneur or just someone who loves to see others succeed, there’s no doubt you’ve come across some amazing stories of people who have risen from humble beginnings in order to create the life of their dreams.

If you’re a budding entrepreneur who loves the outdoors, you can gain some significant inspiration from your outside surroundings.

Get (Re)connected

The beauty of the outdoors has the power to inspire and help you tap into your inner strength. The vastness of nature and the simple beauty of being outside can help you feel more connected to yourself, your surroundings, and the world around you.

Time to Focus

As you spend time in nature, you’ll notice that it has a way of helping you forget about your problems and just be. This is because your mind has to be focused on something other than work in order to be productive.

The best way to start improving your productivity and get your mind back on track is to get out in the natural world. Try a few of these tips to help you reassess your values and goals in business:

  • Take a walk in the park
  • Go for a hike
  • Go camping for a night
  • Simply reconnect with nature and get inspired

Once you’re feeling more connected, start incorporating these lessons into your day-to-day life and see how it helps you at work. You’ll be amazed at the difference some time outdoors can make in your business decisions.

Use your surroundings

One of the best things about being outside is that it opens your eyes up to new ideas. I can inspire you in new ways. Look about and notice everything you can about where you are and what’s around you.

You can use this as a mental break from work and a way to relax. It can also help you refocus on your work. Thinking about what you do best, what you’re good at, and what you need to work on can reenergize you.

Find inspiration

Being outdoors in nature can help you tap into your creative side and help you find inspiration. This might not seem like a huge benefit right away. But you might notice that you feel more creative when you’re out and about.

When you’re in nature, you’re likely to be more relaxed and not focused on the work at hand like you are when you’re at work. This can help you take a step back, look at your life and work from a different perspective and find a new way of looking at things.

Take risks

Taking risks is often a necessary part of growing and learning.

One risk you may have been avoiding is going back to school to get your MBA. WGU.edu is an online school with a stellar reputation and competitive tuition. Once achieved, a whole new world of opportunities will open itself up to you. You’ll sharpen your business skills, learn how to strategize, become a stronger leader, and gain self-awareness and self-assessment.

If you want to grow as an individual and as a business owner, you can’t stay the same and have to keep pushing past your comfort zone. If you want to make progress, you have to put yourself out there, try new things, and take risks.
