Traverse City State Park

The area around Traverse City in northwest Lower Michigan always has a lot of offer in terms of things to see and do for a northern Michigan getaway. Consider visiting the old state psychiatric hospital that has been turned into a quirky collection of shops and restaurants.

At the Traverse City State Park, you’ll find a busy layout in the campground with not much privacy.

Also, be aware that the sites along the front of the park (tehcnially the “lake side”) are along a busy road and there’s a lot of traffic noise. The lake is accessible via a pedestrian bridge across that roadway.

Also note there are “pets” and “no pets” areas, so be aware of that when booking depending on your needs.
